Craig was born in Ypsilanti Michigan on February 12, 1951 to Robert and Lois Jean Santure. Craig graduated from the University of Michigan to become an engineer. Later, his career with the Chrysler Corporation would bring him to Missouri, then to Illinois where he would retire after 40+ years.
Having grown up in a farming family, Craig took great pride in raising prize winning show cows as a member of 4-H. As an adult, he enjoyed traveling, particularly when riding his Harleys. He took enjoyment in simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends, shooting pool, hunting and fishing, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, drinking a beer, attending concerts, and even watching Hallmark movies. Some of his favorite moments were when he could inspire or help others by supporting veterans and children, most notably when he would play Santa to underprivileged children.
He is survived by his three children, Patrick Benzinger, Crystal (David) Millering, and Amanda Santure, and two grandchildren, Luke Benzinger and Tyler Millering, beloved cat Buddy, two sisters, Judy Nick) Bauder and Karen Waeltermann, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, William (surviving spouse Beth) Santure.
