Mr. Clarence James Tacey, age 90, passed away surrounded by his family, following a brief illness on Thursday morning, May 1, 2025 at MyMichigan Medical Center Saginaw. He was born on February 18, 1935 in Bay County to Prosper and Magdalen (Mulders) Tacey. Clarence was raised on the family farm in Fairgrove where he learned the value of hard work. He graduated from Akron High School in 1953 and studied at Michigan State University. He served his country with the U.S. Naval Reserves. Clarence worked at Dow Corning before starting work at Dow Chemical in 1961, retiring in 1995 as an instrument technician. He was very proud of the work that he did at Dow, working with the R&D team on patents. He was skilled in electronics as well as mastering gardening, woodworking, plumbing and all home repairs. He loved to learn about everything, was always willing to lend a hand and cherished sharing his knowledge with others. Clarence enjoyed camping, boating and fishing throughout his life and was an avid follower of U.S. financial markets.
Clarence is survived by his longtime friend, Natalie Sullivan; his three children, Dennis (Panadda) Tacey of Midland, Cathy (Aaron) Winters of Charlotte and Diane (Jose) Castillo of Bay City, and their mother, Loretta Tacey; his grandchildren, Zachary Tacey, Spencer Tacey, Amy Grace Tacey, Matthew (Jena) Winters, Rachel (Will) Plummer and Caleigh Winters; his great grandchildren, Codi Winters, Blake Winters, Adelyn Plummer and Sutton Plummer; a sister, Arlene (Dan) Schlosser of Bay City; a brother-in-law, Leonard Czelada of Imlay City; his aunt, Marion Lewandowski; and several nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his father, Prosper Tacey; his mother, Magdalen (Mulders) Tacey Schlosser and stepfather, John Schlosser; a grandson, Mason Tacey; a sister, Edna Czelada; and a brother, Glenn Schlosser.
It was Clarence's desire for cremation to take place. A memorial is being planned and will be announced in the near future. Funeral home arrangements are being provided by Trahan Funeral Chapel.
