Robert A. Tessier, age 85, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lowell on Monday, August 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rita D. Tessier (Langlois) with whom he enjoyed 46 years of marriage prior to her passing.
He was born in Dracut on March 28, 1941, and was the son of the late Armand and Lillian (Marrault) Tessier.
Robert was a proud veteran who honorably served his country during the Korean War. He was a man of deep faith who served as an altar boy from a young age and carried those values of faith, service, and devotion throughout his life. He was known for his strength, resilience, and unwavering love for his family. Family was the center of Robert's life. He was known for his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor, strength, and ability to bring joy and laughter to all those around him. Among the many memories his family will cherish was Robert singing "Elvira" while vacationing at Salisbury Beach, a fun, loving moment that perfectly captured his personality with the joy he brought to everyone he knew. Two of his favorite games were playing 45's and cribbage.
Robert was also pre-deceased by his former wife, Janice Drew Tessier, who passed away in 1998; Janice was the mother of his three children. In addition, he was pre-deceased by his sister Dottie and his sister Terry.
He is survived by his three children, Robert Tessier and his wife Rhona, his son, Randy Tessier, and daughter Stacy Tessier. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Shane Smith and wife Mackenzie, Tyler Smith, Hannah Smith and fiancé Bryan Bailey, Mackenzie Tessier, Zackery Tessier and Katie Tessier. He was a proud great grandfather of little miss Lyla Rose Smith and Beauregard Tessier. Robert is also survived by his sister Pauline Daigle, his stepchildren, Donald Marcotte, Donna Marcotte, David Lowe and wife Karen, and sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hopkins and Gloria Langlois. He also leaves behind step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and all who loved him. Robert was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Jack Hopkins and Roger Langlois.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 9:00am to 11:00am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. His Funeral Service and interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chapel, CHELMSFORD.
