Denis was the last child to arrive into the welcoming arms of his parents René Tessier and Juliet (Boyer) in Ville Marie, Québec on October 26th, 1948.
Helping raise him were thirteen siblings: Thérèse, Maurice, Florence, Albert, Jeanine, Francoise, Marcel, Claire, Estelle, Noëlla, Peter, Michael, & Ghislaine.
Raised in Espanola, educated in North Bay, Denis married his beloved Wendy (Beamish) in Ottawa where his "family" grew quickly by one: his cherished daughter, Erin (then 2: Justin West). Not to mention all the Beamish family: Don Sr, Sybil Sr, Don Jr, Tom, Linda, Sybil Jr, Dawn and Brian.
During a career at Weston Bakeries Ltd, he enjoyed hockey, biking, scuba, and camping, then happily retired to the Glenalee community in White Lake, Ontario.
Sharing their love of dance by teaching, the couple further expanded their social circle by enjoying dances throughout the Ottawa Valley and in Florida.
But golf was Denis's true passion, having been initially a member of Metcalfe GCC before finding in retirement his favoured home course: Mountain Creek. He was also an avid participant in the Beacon Lakes Men's league (where he'd sneak two ladies in occasionally) as well as the Green Dolphins Mixed League.
Big of heart, he was an integral partner to Wendy in raising numerous foster cats, also collecting aluminum can tabs to both recycle and help raise funds for children.
In sum, Denis was a caring, considerate and loveable soul whose bear hugs will be sorely missed. He passed peacefully in the arms of his loved ones, March 5, 2024, Ottawa, Ontario.
When you think of him, save that tab for the Robert Hampson Tabs for Kids Fund which purchases wheelchairs for children (in association with Easter Seals Ontario.)
