Léonard TESSIER

In loving memory of Leonard “Len” Tessier, 87 years. It is with broken hearts we announce his passing at his residence on Monday, November 18th, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband and best friend of 63 years to Doreen “Dody” Tessier (nee Lanktree). Loving and proud father of Cheryl Lipic (Rob), and Cathy Natale. Cherished and adored grandfather of Michael Thompson, Megan Sloan (Cory), Curtis Natale (Sarah), and Emily Natale (Jesse), and great grandfather of Lola, Hannah, Emma, James, and Ellie. Predeceased by his parents Michael and Marie Jeanne Tessier (nee Pauze) and his brother Gerald Tessier. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family, friends, and colleagues.

We will all remember Len for his unwavering work ethic. He worked harder that anyone we know, and his dedication to his trade inspired all who knew him. This was evident in the fact that he proudly worked through his “retirement” at 65, to his final year. There wasn’t a person who wasn’t in awe of his mastery, integrity, and expertise. He enjoyed maintaining his yard and nothing was ever unfixable, much to his wife’s distress. His immaculately clean driveway and pristine vehicles will be a fond memory to us all. His devotion to his work was only outshone by his devotion to his family.

Len was born on January 6th,1937 in Garson, Ontario. 65 years ago, a young Len Tessier, worked in a lumber camp in northern Ontario, saving up all of his nickels so he’d have the lucky opportunity to drive 40 miles to the nearest payphone, just to talk to his then fiancé ‘Dody’. On June 17th, 1961, they were married and until his passing, him and his wife could only be described as deeply in love, enjoying each other’s company and kissing like a young couple. A quiet man, he loved to be surrounded by his family and when you look at photos of his life you can see that he found the chaos of raising his daughters and all the trials that come with their lives to be profoundly fulfilling.

In his last few years, he spent the quiet moments in his yard enjoying the birds and chipmunks with his best buddy Jasper.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mark Dube, and Dr. Emily Dube for the many years of care and compassion they provided.

Friends may gather at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held in the R.J. Chapel, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 3:00 pm. Friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday after 2pm.
